ICE CREAM SOCIALS 2010

The Friends of Punderson would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to all those who attended our Ice cream Socials throughout the summer. The proceeds have been used for projects within the park such as the flower gardens, street signs, disc golf course expansion, and will be used for the renovation of the Amphitheater. A special thanks goes out to Friends of Punderson member Beverly Fischbach for running the Socials and coming up with all the "Weekly Specials", like her "Dirt & Worms Sundae", and the other members who helped during the summer. Again, thanks to all who attended the Socials. Your patronage is greatly appreciated.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY - Was Saturday, July 17th, 2010
Christmas in July winner

Several campers participated in our first ever "Christmas in July" event. "Christmas Day" was a balmy 90o. The best decorated campsite was site #14 decorated by Deb, Logan, & Megan Standley, Sue Dunton, & Morganne Standley. There was a children's Christmas craft activity and the day's Ice Cream Social featured a "Sugar Plum Ice Cream Sundae" and was well attended. The proceeds from the Socials are used to fund events and provide park improvements throughout the year. The Friends of Punderson group is looking forward to having the first annual "Christmas in July" next year.

NATURE CENTER DEDICATION - Was June 26th, 2010

The weather was just beautiful for the 100 or so people that attended the William B. Cleveland Nature Center Dedication. It has been many years of hard work by the Park staff and Friends of Punderson volunteers to build and equip the facility but all the hard work paid off in the end. Park visitors can now enjoy a leisurely drive through the Park on the many historically named roads as they make their way to the William B. Cleveland Nature Center. The dedication and determination of Bill Cleveland along with all the hard work of the many volunteers has made this day possible. A detailed history of Punderson State Park can be obtained by visiting our History web page. The people of Ohio, the Park staff, and the Friends of Punderson extend our deepest appreciation to the Cleveland and Coppedge families for their efforts in preserving the land that is now Punderson State Park.

DISC GOLF "ICE BOWL" - Was Saturday, January 30th, 2010

alt=    Thank you to everyone who participated in the First Annual Friends of Punderson Ice Bowl!! We had 33 hearty souls braving the cold and slippery conditions for fun, to raise money to continue building the course and most importantly for charity. We raised $176.00 and collected 300 lbs. of food for the Geauga County Jobs and Family Services. This shattered our initial goals!! We raised just over $500 for the Disc Golf Course. This too exceeded our expectations. Again, a hearty thanks from the whole club to each of you for your part in the success of the event.

A special "thank you" goes out to the people at Punderson State Park for the use of the Sports Chalet as our headquarters, You ROCK guys!!

We are currently running a weekly event each Saturday. As the weather improves I'm sure we may add a couple more, so please check out our website for more info.
